Présentation colloque

In order to ensure that a dignified and satisfying life is within the reach of all present and future humanity, architecture must release all its potential within a framework of goodwill and ethics that ensures that no one is left behind and that there is a viable future for the planet. Therefore, the aims of the 4th Valencia International Biennial of Research in Architecture are:

• To highlight the value of research that meets the needs of the greatest possible number of people and the planet.
• To discuss and implement parameters to maximize the number of beneficiaries of research, redirecting it if necessary, and promoting a culture of the common good.
• To place in the spotlight those ongoing works or available proposals developed by architectural researchers aimed to improve the living conditions and the wellbeing.
• To assess the evolution of architectural research in both traditional and state-of-the-art matters with a special focus on those promoted by new social sensitivities, climate awareness and other topics of recent and sudden irruption.
• To showcase all kinds of research within the field of architecture with a special focus on the benefits and beneficiaries of the results.
• To underline the social spirit of architectural research and the capacity of social leadership of its practitioners.
• To highlight architecture’s multidisciplinarity as a melting pot of multiple approaches, points of view and expertise.
• To open new perspectives for architectural research by promoting the development of multidisciplinary and inter-university networks and research groups.

For all that, the 4th Valencia International Biennial of Research in Architecture is open not only to architects, but also for any academic, practitioner, professional or student with a determination to develop research in architecture or neighboring fields.
